CEBU 1 ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC.
Cebu Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO) is the first rural electric cooperative organized in the province of Cebu. Attaining its legal personality after its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws was registered with the National Electrification Administration (NEA), the government agency charged with implementing the rural electrification program of the country.
History
CEBECO, as provided in its Article of Incorporation, was organized primarily for the purpose of supplying, promoting and encouraging the fullest use of electric service at very reasonable rates on an area coverage basis pursuant to PD 269, as amended by PD 1645. The first energization was done on September 11, 1976 in the municipality of Barili. Energization of all the municipalities within CEBECO area coverage was completed in June 1980. Its goal is to become a catalyst for progress by bringing the development to the countryside through rural electrification.
When CEBECO II and CEBECO III were organized, the coop became referred to as Cebu I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO I). At present, CEBECO I like any other electric cooperatives in the country is under the supervision of the NEA pursuant to R.A. 10531, otherwise known as the "National Electrification Administration Reform Act of 2013".
Like any electric cooperative, it states how it can keep service undertakings be at par with other players in the electric distribution industry. CEBECO I aims to deliver the best electric power and other appropriate services promptly and in the most compassionate manner to the most number of member-consumers in its entire franchise area. CEBECO I look to the future and ought to be a source of inspiration. CEBECO I performs in its very best towards an achievable future by realizing the vision that we are a coop committed to enhancing the quality of life for our member-consumers. We are striving to be recognized for our reasonable rates, reliable service and technological advancements.
CEBECO I is committed to operate in a manner that is socially and environmentally responsible. CEBECO I’s corporate culture will foster safety, loyalty, creativity and high morale among its well-trained and motivated employees, enabling CEBECO I to provide excellent service to our member-consumers. The passage of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) in 2001, reforms in the power industry is being implemented which posted many challenges in the power industry.
Despite the difficult circumstances in its early existence and the perennial setback brought about by calamities, CEBECO I managed to register a continued upward trend in operation, earning for itself a number of awards and recognitions from NEA since 1987 up to the present.
Keeping pace with the power industry standards, CEBECO I charted to build up the cooperative to be a globally competitive electric distribution utility that would help propel and accelerate economic growth of the rural areas. In the present cut-throat marketplace where businesses compete for customers, customer satisfaction and delight increasingly have become the key element of our business strategy especially in the competitive market. CEBECO I shall operate in environment that is protected and the people are productive and satisfied.
